Vernon Boulevard’s 3rd Annual LIC Springs! Event

On May 14th from 12pm to 5pm, our beloved Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City plays host to one of the most exciting events of the year: LIC Springs! A free festival that celebrates our close-knit community, it will be a day of music, dancing, art, and much more.
The event takes place right on Vernon, between 46th and 50th Avenues. The streets will be closed to traffic so people of all ages can peruse the booths, classes, and outdoor dining. LIC Springs! is hosted by LIC Partnership along with the NYC Department of Transportation and over 100 local businesses. A fun day out for everyone, this block party is a must for Queens residents!
Last year’s festival was a huge success, and this year is set to be even bigger. Past events included an Irish Dance Performance from the McManus School, Archery Tag, Swing Dancing, and tons of live music!
The annual festivities also have many options for the fitness-minded. In 2015, there were crossfit classes from CrossFit Gantry as well as yoga sessions hosted by The Yoga Room and Anthea Yoga.
From an interactive art gallery on 47th Avenue to pony rides on 48th, you’ll want to arrive right at noon to take in everything the celebration has to offer.
And don’t worry, you definitely won’t go hungry as dozens of local restaurants will be setting up outdoor seating specially for the event. Last year’s establishments included Woodbines, Alobar, Masso, and many more.

LIC partnership is looking for volunteers of high school age and up as well as the participation of local businesses. It truly is a great way to connect with our community and foster the relationships that make Long Island City so special.
They need volunteers to chalk the streets prior to the event, help outdoor vendors set up, survey and assist attendees, as well as cleanup after the party. Past volunteer groups have included the Astoria Lions Club, LaGuardia Community College, and Wells Fargo. If you’re interested in volunteering, sign up HERE.
Local businesses can take part by providing activity booths and tables. If you’re interested in participating, go HERE.
